Work placements

During the second year of your course, you will have the chance to develop knowledge and skills in a professional environment.

A placement will provide you with a rich opportunity to contribute to the work of a team of practitioners and will encourage you to critically reflect on your skills, knowledge development and your contribution to the team you work with.

Placements take place in your second year between February and May, and normally in the Sheffield city region.

You will spend a minimum of 70 hours and a maximum of 180 hours in your placement.

The School of Education’s placement officer sources placements in various settings, where available, depending on external circumstances. These have included Sheffield primary schools and other settings that support children and families, including prevention and early intervention services, CAMHS and dyslexia centres.
